Medications That Cause Memory Loss!

Prescription drugs are the reason for more than 100,000 deaths and a lot more sick people due to their  serious side-effects.

Each prescription drug has side effect an and most often its  memory loss

”Anti” drugs

If the name of the drug has  “anti”  on the beginning ( antihypertensive, antibiotics, antispasmodics, antipsychotics, antihistamines or antidepressants ) then it  affect the acetylcholine level (  primary neurotransmitter involved in memory). If its low due to use of this medication  then   dementia, memory loss, hallucinations, blurred vision, mental confusion and delirium appear .

Sleeping pills

Ambien is amnesia drug  that like the other sleep drugs can cause a state similar to being in coma or being drunk and when using you won’t experience the restorative sleep that the brain needs to repair .

Statin drugs

Cholesterol lowering drugs  are one of the worst because ¼ of the brain is composed of cholesterol ( important for fast thinking, memory and learning ) and these drugs are destroying it.

A list of 20 medications  made by Richard C. Mohs (former vice chairman of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry) :

-Antihistamines;
-Steroids;
-Quinidine;
-Naproxen;
-Antibiotics;

-Methyldopa;
-Seconal, Phenobarbital, Amytal, Nembutal- barbiturates;
-Chemotherapy drugs;

-glycopyrrolate, scopolamine, atropine –Parkinson’s disease;
-codeine, heroin, morphine –Painkillers;
-phenytoin or Dilantin –Epilepsy;
-sonata, Ambien, Lunesta –Sleeping pills;
-Ativan, Dalmane, Valium, Xanax –Benzodiazepines;

-Lithium;
-Haldol, Mellaril – antipsychotics;
-tricyclic antidepressants;

Try to consume less medication in order to preserve your brain !

What to do?

If you use some of these drugs and you notice a change in your ability of fast thinking or your memory is weakening then visit your doctor and  find better option( natural if possible) .

If  there is no way to stop using the drugs then try to reduce the load on the brain with  brain supplements, brain-healthy diet or practicing some physical exercises.
